I've decided to do my yoga teachers training course at RainbowLight Centre for Art and Science. It is based in the south of France in the village Coudures and is led by two wonderful people - Sunshine and Glen, who live here all year long together with their children Ocean and Sky.
I have selected their yoga school for several reasons: type of yoga which is being taught, the experience of a leading teacher, value of certification, duration of course, price and location.
The location was very significant in taking into account current situation with the COVID virus as it makes it unsafe to plan any trip outside of Europe. Besides, as I shared with you in the previous topic, nowadays quality retreats go way beyond just the locations such as India or Thailand.
Coudures itself is basically in the middle of nowhere. And this what makes it really awesome! Because the background idea of this retreat is to disconnect from our busy routines and enjoy the simplicity of living. At the location we have horses, chickens, several rubber boots to borrow for walking in the field and the bicycles for the trip to the nearest village where we can get some fresh croissants from the bakery. We are also planning to visit the nearby winery on the weekend and do some tasting.
Another thing which persuaded me to choose RainbowLight was the experience of a leading teacher. Sunshine (our lead instructor) has been teaching yoga for over 15 years now, she has a BA degree in psychology and has finished a formal study of Tibetan Buddhism, and completed the Asian Classics Institute courses. Before registering for the course I have checked her classes on YouTube and subscribed for a free online intro course offered on their web page. Usually she has another teacher helping her out during the retreat and you can always contact her before making a booking to ask for the details about experiences of the second instructor. So far I am very happy with ours, her name is Adeline 😊
The course is going to last for three weeks at the end of which we will receive Yoga Alliance certificates and will be officially certified to teach yoga to other students and impart our knowledge to them.
Today was the first day of our training. We woke up at 6:30 and had an introduction at 7am. Later we talked about the meaning of yoga, its benefits, types, did a few gentle yoga flows and finished our day with a yoga nidra class. I am very excited about what's coming within the next days and I'm very happy to see how this course has already gone beyond all my expectations!
And! It would be a crime not to mention the food we are getting here! All the meals are lovingly prepared by Glen, Sunshine's husband. Everything is vegan or vegetarian, and we do get the traditional French cheese and baguette on the side, for those who want it. Glen is a wonderful chief and even though our plates are very simple, they are all extremely delicious 😋
