There are several possible ways for becoming a yoga teacher. But first and foremost it is about feeling of need and inspiration for sharing your knowledge, experiences and practices - while having this you can be sure you will find the right people ready to receive what you are giving.
In real life though, there is some bureaucracy behind the spiritual living. So what are the steps for becoming a yoga teacher?
Everything depends on the school of yoga you desire to teach in. Some of the schools only ask for experience in practicing yoga, others demand having experiences in teaching, however not necessarily being certified, finally some may ask for everything at once. Schools may also offer you to conduct several test classes where they check what is your style and see the response from participants.
“As for me - I was practicing yoga for 5 years before started thinking of teaching it. I did not feel big desire or will for really teaching someone but I definitely felt like I had some knowledge I'm ready to share. So I first decided to see and try out some short experiences in teaching whereas afterwards consider the certification. I've organised an open event of yoga in the park around my neighbourhood and found a local school which welcomed me for giving classes during summer time. This way I have assured myself that "this is my thing" and now I want to pursue with the certification.”
The offer for certification is nowadays huge, so you will definitely have to do some research before deciding on a specific one. As for the test don't hesitate to try the free courses online! And next article I'll tell you what aspects to put under consideration when choosing the yoga course or yoga retreat.
Remember, you shouldn't expect a full class field with mats on your first teaching classes! Bare in mind that everything comes with experience and obviously people need to get used to you and get to know you better.
So what do you need for becoming a yoga teacher? Not much in fact! Only your confidence and flexibility for the beginning :)
