Day-off in a French countryside

Updated: Oct 1, 2020

Just a few words about our free day during the yoga training course followed by some pictures of the day 😊

While staying in Coudures we've got three Saturdays off in order to rest and reset for the next weeks of practices. Even though we stay in a very small village there are plenty of things to occupy yourself with and organise the day the way you wish. I even got a little bit confused with managing my time and catching up with everything I wanted to do on my day off :D

My day started by introducing a gentle hatha yoga flow to mom and auntie via Skype - it was a pleasure to share my knowledge with them and start the day together with a family. After that together with Jekaterina - another girl who takes part in the training, we took the bikes and went to bakery to get fresh croissants and pain au chocolat... and eclairs... and few other things (it actually was hard to choose). Later it was time to do some washings and put our clothes to dry on the string outside, just like a real farm girls in the best village traditions!

After that we went to the winery nearby which is called Chateau Viella. There we've met a family who owns the wine yards and produces local wines, walked around the grape fields and visited their properties. It was a harvest day, which is usually a really intense period for the wine makers. So we were very lucky that they found some time for us to share a glass of fresh grape juice, introduce us some of their wines and tell us some interesting facts about wine production as well as the history of their family.

At the end of the day when the storm started (perfect timing) it was a good moment to have some soup with fried almonds made by Glen and come by to our cosy living room. Here I could read and relax listening to the sound of raindrops falling down somewhere at the backyard. This time my attention was caught by The Healing Arts written by Ted Kaptchuk and Michael Croucher, in which they explore and compare the alternative medicine approaches all around the world.

Tomorrow is a new day and I am very much looking forward to it (no sarcasm) - waking up at 6:30 am and starting our meditation and pranajama (breathing) classes already at 7:00. But for now I am living a few pictures of this beautiful day for you 😊

P.S. Did you know that wines in France are named by the region, not by the type of grape? Think of it - Bordeaux, Champagne, Alsace! Now you realise, huh?
